About Congressman Ron Paul

Physician, author and statesman, Dr. Ron Paul (Republican of Texas) is the nation's leading defender of free markets, limited government and strong families.

Elected to Congress in the seventies and eighties, and re-elected in 1996, he serves on the Financial Services and International Relations committees. Ron Paul works in Congress to end wasteful government spending, reduce taxes and to defend the Constitution. He is the recipient of the best rating in history from the National Taxpayers Union and has also been praised for refusing to take part in the lavish congressional pension scheme.

Dr. Paul is the author of several books, including Challenge to Liberty; The Case for Gold; and Freedom Under Siege. He has been a distinguished counselor to the Ludwig von Mises Institute and is widely quoted by scholars and writers in the fields of monetary policy, banking and economics. He has received many awards and honors during his career in Congress from organizations such as the National Taxpayers Union, Citizens Against Government Waste, the Council for a Competitive Economy, Young Conservatives of Texas and countless others.

Ron Paul is the founder of two educational organizations, FREE and the National Endowment for Liberty. He is also chairman of The Liberty Caucus of fellow congressmen on Capitol Hill.

Ron Paul and his wife of 45 years, Carol, make their home in Surfside, Texas. They are the parents of five children and the grandparents of 16. A former Air Force flight surgeon, Dr. Paul is a graduate of Gettysburg College and Duke University Medical School. In his career as an obstetrician, Dr. Paul has delivered more than 4,000 babies.
